  • National Domestic Abuse Helpline, run by Refuge – 0808 2000 247, free, 24/7. refuge.org.uk

Peer support

Talking to people who genuinely understand, rather than a professional service.

Find a therapist

If what you’re looking for is a therapist rather than a helpline, Finding a therapist covers how to find one, and what the different titles actually mean.

Supporting someone else

If it’s someone else you’re worried about rather than yourself, Supporting someone else covers what actually helps, and When someone refuses help covers what’s still in your control if they won’t accept it. For a child or teenager specifically, Supporting a child or teenager is the better starting point.

Suggest a support group

Know a support group or organisation that should be on this list? Suggest it here and I’ll take a look.
